Nigeria alcohol prevention youth initiative (NAPYI) originated in the CRISA conference in 2008 and was established under the companies and allied acts as an NGO in 2009. . The primary objective of NAPYI is to empower young people to become advocates in reducing harm due to alcohol through dialogue across the culturally diverse Nigerian populations. Continued support from the Institute of Alcohol Studies and global alcohol policy alliance (GAPA) chaired by Derek Rutherford has resulted in three workshops being held.

Outcome of the last workshop in Abuja led to the research conducted in the 6 geopolitical zones of the country. We believe evidence based policy is the way forward and as such we are hoping to conduct more research in the near future. We are also looking forward to forming alliances with other youth organizations with the same goal as ours.
