Tuinuke na Tuendelee Mbele self-help group was founded in 2005 by a group of 5 HIV positive women to address some of social challenges affecting HIV positive and young mothers specifically in informal settlements. These include early pregnancies, abortion, HIV infections and high number of OVC.

Through mentorship programmes, young mothers are trained on entrepreneurship and guided to initiate income generating projects. Additionally, the group has a programme to train HIV positive mothers on reproductive health and positive living with an aim of elevating their esteem therefore becoming more productive in the society.

Working with a partner organisation, we have been able to empower our youth through artisanal courses, chicken, and urban vegetable farming.

The group children's club helps in nurturing children talents and prepares them to become responsible adults through life skills training.

Through partnership with world vision, our group has gone through organisation self-assessment and have been trained on various gaps identified. These include leadership, entrepreneurship, value addition, financial management, book keeping among others. As a result, our group has managed to utilize skills gained to improve performance.

The group has also managed to venture into the wider market in Japan, Italy, Canada, and Finland through their partnership with other organizations i.e. Jhpiego WV and NCC among others.
