He has written numerous articles about drugs, and hosted and spoken at several national and international conferences on money laundering, organized crime, motorcycle gangs, research on drugs, prevention and treatment. TP was a member of the Swedish Government’s delegation to UNGASS in New York in 1998 and a trainer in the “Drug Trafficking Module” for the EU applicant countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Swissinfo reports that “parliament has approved a proposal to impose a fine on consumers of small amounts of cannabis instead of opening formal criminal proceedings. However, the decision stops short of legalising the substance.”
No need to be surprised. Some 100 years ago Friedrich Engels pointed out that small countries like Switzerland and the Netherlands would serve as perfect guinea pigs for all sorts of experiments – political as well as social experiments. As all of you probably know by now Switzerland was the first playground for distribution of heroin to heroin addicts (that´s rocket science for you), even in a prison (Oberschöngrün in canton Solothurn). Back in the 90´s Switzerland became world famous for the biggest open drug scene in Europe, Platsspitz, which was closed and later substituted for by Letten station, a dilapidated railway station.
