Following the introduction of the so called “wietpas” at coffee shops in the three southern provinces Limburg, Brabant and Zeeland in the Netherlands, some 600 people have lost their jobs in coffee shops.The “wietpas” policy, introduced in the three southern provinces on May 1, 2012, means that only Dutch citizens are allowed to enter a coffee shop, provided he/she is a member and holds a “wietpas”.
